Styx: Master of Shadows trailer focuses on failure

The latest trailer for Styx: Master of Shadows is all about the myriad ways you can fail, which is quite weird for any game that isn’t called Dark Souls.

If Styx is caught, he’s in a spot of bother. While it’s entirely possible to parry your way out of combat against one or two assailants, you’re basically screwed if there are any more than that, and if you’re a stealth purist then you can even opt for Goblin Mode difficulty which means you can’t fight back if caught. I am quite happy about this, because that puts an emphasis on stealth. Of course, the trailer also includes a look at monsters that look like fat little spiders, so I’m then immediately made unhappy again.

This trailer shows the titular character being stabbed, blasted, smashed into the ground, falling to his death, and a whole lot more. If you want to get a look at the many deaths of Styx, check out the video below.

Styx: Master of Shadows is due out in October.
