There are many that would argue that the purest form of music is accompanied by the clicks and pops that only vinyl records can provide. It’s a special thing when modern music gets a release on this medium, a callback to a relic of the past. However, the company iam8bit often provides for gamers who want to enjoy music in this form. Supergiant Games is gearing up to release a vast selection of their musical works by composer Darren Korb in one massive package, signaling their 10-year anniversary in developing games.
Bastion + Pyre + Transistor + (a little bit of) Hades
Complete soundtracks are going to be introduced in the limited bundle for Bastion, Pyre, and Transistor. A 7″ (commonly known as a 45) with two tracks from Hades is included as well. However, it should be noted that the set is limited to only 1,000 copies and carries a hefty price tag of $299.99. But this is a celebration of 10 years of the company and is more than just the music.
This works out to a 12-LP set. Five of those 12 pieces of vinyl are rare or content never before released. Lastly, the set will include album art by James Gilleard.
Packing up for PAX West
For Supergiant Games fans attending PAX West, the team will be hosting a panel during the show, focusing on the “10 Years of Supergiant Games.” This will be held at the Raven Threatre on Aug. 31, 2019, 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. A live concert will also be performed at the Main Theatre from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. that day, featuring songs from Bastion, Transistor, Pyre, and Hades. This live show will be conducted by Austin Wintory of gaming music fame.
The Supergiant: The 10th Anniversary Collection will start shipping in Q1 of 2020. However, the preorder for the bundle goes live on Aug. 30, 2019. It was also recently revealed that Hades will join Steam in December after a stint on the Epic Games Store.
