Telltale’s Fables-based series is coming this summer

The Wolf Among Us

It’s all been pretty quiet regarding Telltale’s new series based on the DC-published Fables comics by Bill Willingham. That is, until today. Telltale has been telling … tales to IGN about the game, which will be called The Wolf Among Us.

To those who are familiar with the comic series (which follows a series of fairytale characters residing in New York, after fleeing a war in their own world,) that should point towards one character in particular. That deduction would be a smart one. In The Wolf Among Us, players will be taking the role of Bigby (otherwise known as The Big Bad Wolf,) who now hangs around in human form and tries to keep other fairytale characters hidden from “our” world.

He’s kind of a freelance Fables sheriff crossed with a classic, trenchcoat-attired noir detective. The events of The Wolf Among Us will take place before the timeline established by the comics.

“Through an evolution of our approach to choice and consequence, we can further explore the complexity of each and every iconic character in a universe rich with untold history from the darkest sides of the storybooks,” says Telltale’s Dan Connors. Which sounds rather promising after what the team did with The Walking Dead.

The first episode is due this summer.
