The Secret World beta sign-ups open

Due for release nexy April, Funcom are now recruiting testers for the MMORPG.
After a slight delay due to a trechnical problem, Funcom is now inviting gamers to sign-up for The Secret World beta test.
Funcom are doing things slightly differently with the beta sign-ups as potential testers will take part in a unique personality test to help determine which secret society they will join. Once that phase is complete players are signed up as a potential tester.
The second phase of the testing process will allow users to expand the influence of their secret society through a social media connected, web-based game. Here users will be able to recruit friends and ‘deploy them as agents for their cause, scoring points for themselves and their secret society’.
As players gain more points they will unlock achivements as well as exclusive in-game equipment and weaponry, in-game titles, and also a guaranteed beta access reward. Think of it as social networking to get on the test. Note, you have to have a Facebook account to get involved in the test which some may find disappointing as not everyone likes to use Facebook.
“One of the most interesting features of ‘The Secret World’ is the three profoundly different secret societies that players can join,” says Funcom SVP of Sales & Marketing, Morten Larssen. “Since we first announced the game we have gradually revealed more details about them, and what we have seen is that thousands of gamers in our community have come to identify with them and form a loyal bond to other community members belonging to the same society. With ‘The Secret War’ experience we are excited about the prospect of allowing for even more community interaction and engagement.”
The Secret World does look like it will offer something quite different from other MMOs and we’re keen to get our hands on the Beta test when it arrives. Watch out for a new preview coming soon here on IncGamers.
