Two bits of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt news courtesy of a reader: GOG preloads have begun, while lucky types in the UAE are able to play the game already.
Let’s deal with GOG first. If you’ve purchased The Witcher 3 via that particular service, pre-loads should have begun by now. The pre-load apparently clocks in at a 26GB download, with the game requiring 35GB of hard drive space to install. Sizeable, but hardly the biggest thing we’ve seen lately.
Meanwhile, retailers in the UAE have apparently broken street date on the game, with eager players in that region already able to play it. While Twitch are trying to shut down any streams of the game, and while CD Projekt RED are locking threads on their forums and taking down YouTube videos, you might want to be careful when searching for The Witcher 3 info lest you come across spoilers. That actually ties into the pre-loads, too; the GOG Galaxy client apparently lists the game’s achievements, including the “hidden” ones that contain spoilers. Extreme caution is recommended when Googling for the game.
While this can’t be making the devs happy, CD Projekt RED are happy to announce that they’ve got a million pre-orders worldwide. So that’s something, at least.
Huge thanks to Marton for the heads-up. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due to officially launch on 19 May.
