There’s lots of games affected by the closure of Gamespy, more than you might have thought but solutions are being worked on and there’s an alternative.

While the closure of Gamespy won’t bother gamers who are keen on playing new titles, there are gamers like myself that play a lot of classic PC Games still because, well they’re better than a lot of stuff that’s released today. Red Alert anyone?

There are many games that are not affected as publishers hop to it an get alternatives set up, but even the “affected list” below which is being compiled on Reddit has a few that are still played extensively today. Activision, Capcom, Bohemia and Epic are all working on alternatives so those should be all safe.

If you don’t want to mess about and wait for publishers to sort out the mess I suggest you check out GameRanger which has coverage for just about every PC game you could imagine. It’s also free and super simple to use. There’s loads of PC gamers using it already so you won’t find it hard to find games.
