THQ tease Metro: Last Light info

New details and images for Metro: Last Light, sequel to the ‘flawed masterpiece’ Metro: 2033.
Earlier this month IncGamers reported that THQ had confirmed a sequel to Metro 2033 was in the works.
Due to be presented via a live gameplay demonstration next week during E3, Metro: Last Light is, according to THQ’s Danny Bilson, an “artful” game that will “thrill” and “terrify”.

“We believe that Metro 2033 was a flawed masterpiece,” said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “It was a beautiful, original game that didn’t get the marketing support it needed. We won’t make that mistake with Metro: Last Light.
“This game improves on the original in every way – it will have more polish, deeper and more sophisticated gameplay, and satisfyingly visceral combat, without losing what our fans loved about the original. Metro: Last Light is another artful piece of game development from an Eastern European studio that will thrill and terrify anyone looking for a more cerebral experience than your typical first person shooter.”

The game is set beneath the post-apocalyptic ruins of Moscow circa-2034. We’re promised an environment that is hostile both above ground and below thanks to a toxic atmosphere and mutants that “stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface”.
However, it sounds as though your real enemy is going to be other humans. The story revolves around a civil war that is on the verge of erupting between the underground Metro station ‘cities’ over a ‘doomsday device’ that has been taken froma military compound.

“Stunning lighting and physics that set a new graphical benchmark” are promised, as well as an “intense” multiplayer component. Metro: Last Light is due sometime in 2012.
If it’s as good as Metro 2033, it’ll be great, If it’s better it’ll be spectacular.
From the press release, here are a few of Last Light’s key points:
