Sega and Creative Assembly have announced that a ‘limited edition’ (limited to precisely how many is not clear) of Total War: Shogun 2 will be released in the US and Europe alongside the standard version of the game.
The news comes from the Sega America blog, which explains that the limited edition will feature “a unique playable faction” – the Hattori Clan. A special battle scenario (Nagashino) will also be included, plus some armour for your online avatar and an undisclosed number of experience points to spend on your online character right away.
A Sega Europe press release, replicated on the Total War site, suggests that Europe will also be getting a ‘Collector’s Edition’ featuring everything from the limited version plus a Takeda Shingen figurine, an art book and a bamboo box. Whether this one will be available in the US as well is not yet clear.
Total War: Shogun 2 is due for release on PC in March 2011.
Also released today is brand new ‘battle report’ video, featuring the Takeda and Hojo clans in a sixteen minute siege scenario.
