The free-to-play shooter Tribes: Ascend will soon offer a fully paid-for version, initially “discounted” at $30 USD, which will unlock all weapons, classes and perks in the game right from the start. This ‘Game of the Year’ edition will be available through Steam on 15 February, at a special price of $19 USD for ‘VIP’ Tribes players.

It’s a nice option to have, but players who’ve already shelled out more than $30 USD on bits and pieces in the title may feel somewhat miffed.

Friday will also see the game updated with six new maps (three Arena, three CTF/ Blitz,) a shocklance weapon and a pair of skins.
