Trion announces ‘season pass’ offer for Defiance MMO

By the sounds of things, Trion’s Defiance MMO is going somewhat the way of Guild Wars 2 with its payment model. A one-off payment for the game, followed by the option to purchase DLC ‘updates’ or a subscription that’ll keep you covered for all the new stuff.

In light of that, the company has announced a ‘season pass’ offer for the first five pieces of DLC that’ll come out for the game. Put up the capital now, and you’ll apparently save 20% on the cost of buying them individually. They’ll be £6.50 GBP each, but £25.00 GBP as a bundle of five.

Of course, this is also something of a risk. If certain bits of the DLC (or the game itself) doesn’t prove to be to your liking, then you haven’t really saved money at all.

Here’s some of what will be included in the DLC packages: “A new playable alien species, new weapons and vehicles, missions, and rewards, plus two bonus items, an exclusive digital Hellbug combat cap and a Lock Box.”

Defiance is due to launch world-wide on 2 April. The tie-in TV series (or should that be the other way around?) debuts on 15 April.
