A few weeks ago Green Heart Games hit the headlines following the intentional release of their game Game Dev Tycoon onto the pirate scene. The special “pirate” version forced game studios to go bust. It was a really interesting experiment which hopefully made a few pirates sit up and think about their actions.

Since the release of this special version, the game has received a lot of attention which has now resulted in one of the team members being able to work full-time on the game. Game Dev Tycoon has also now also been Greenlit on Steam.

Today’s developer update also brings news that the team are delaying a Steam release until August to give them more time to polish the game following all the feedback they’ve received since new players discovered the game. Issues that are being addressed include balancing and providing players with more feedback.

The updated version will be released on Steam when it’s complete but Green Heart will continue to release service updates for the current released version.

Game Dev Tycoon can be picked up now for $7.99 and Steam keys will be created for owners just before the release on Steam.
