The future of the Darksiders series is looking somewhat in question today, as creative director Joe Madureira has taken the decision to leave Vigil Games. Madureira was the co-founder of the development studio and the main creative force behind the first Darksiders title, as well as a comic book artist.

In a post on twitter, Madureira refers to the series as “definitely a career highlight” and thanks everyone at Vigil for the memories. Elsewhere, on separate Facebook posts, Madureira says “I can safely say Vigil’s future is in very good hands” and confirms that his next immediate move will be to work on more comics.

Darksiders 2 sold around 250,000 copies during the month of August, according to US retail data collected by NPD.
