AMD users, the time of new Catalyst beta drivers for The Witcher 3 (and Project Cars) is at hand.
The 15.5 beta driver has been released today and can be found on AMD’s “latest beta” page over in this direction. AMD are making some fairly bold performance claims for this one, suggesting that people will see the following boosts.
– The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt: Up to 10% performance increase on single GPU Radeon R9 and R7 Series graphics products
– Project Cars: Up to 17% performance increase on single GPU Radeon R9 and R7 Series graphics products
Impressive if accurate. Since I have a 7870 rather than an R9 or R7 I doubt I’ll be seeing gains quite that impressive, but to be honest I’ve been fairly impressed at how that card handles The Witcher 3 with the previous Catalyst 15.4 beta installed.
Anyway, I’ll be giving these a try and perhaps reporting any interesting findings tomorrow.
AMD adds that there are a couple of known issues with these beta drivers, one involving the new Witcher 3 crossfire profile and the in-game anti-aliasing setting. The other is to do (again) with anti-aliasing and Project Cars. Here are the problems to watch out for.
– The Witcher 3 – Wild Hunt: To enable the best performance and experience in Crossfire, users must disable Anti-Aliasing from the games video-post processing options. Some random flickering may occur when using Crossfire. If the issue is affecting the game experience, as a work around we suggest disabling Crossfire while we continue to work with CD Projekt Red to resolve this issue
– [419945] Project CARS: Corruption may be observed if Anti-Aliasing is set to DS2M when run in Crossfire mode. As a workaround we suggest using a different Anti-Aliasing method.
