Witcher is it: CD Projekt Red and Dark Horse Comics tease a thing

The Witcher 3

Surely shooting fire from your hands is a bit risky if you’ve got a ponytail and a beard? I mean, what happens if it goes off when you’re stroking your beard in thought to make yourself look wise and knowledgeable? Pah, that Geralt. Health and Safety won’t be happy.

Don’t you love it when people announce that they’ll be announcing something? I certainly don’t, which is why I try to avoid writing news items about pre-announcement announcements. In this case, though, it might actually be worthwhile.

“This case” involves CD Projekt Red, who are currently developing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, and Dark Horse Comics, who are currently publishing lots of comics. They’re teasing whatever this is as “something truly special for fans of the fantasy genre”, which means it’s unlikely to be Cyberpunk related unless that’s going in a very strange direction.

The only other clues we have are the text “There’s a mystery near the edge of the Black Forest. We’d like to invite you to fear it with us.” and a short video clip (below) showing both a few images of Geralt and a few images of comics. So… yeah, it’s almost certainly a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt comic. The Black Forest is apparently a place in the world of The Witcher, otherwise known as Caed Dhu, so that certainly fits.

I would imagine it’s probably something that leads up to the start of The Witcher 3, but I could see it being a stand-alone story. Either way, the reveal is set for the New York Comic Con, so we’ll find out more sometime between 11 October and 14 October.
