World of Warcraft 5.2 patch hits PTRs – DOTA style Battleground uncovered

Blizzard has now kicked the World of Warcraft 5.2 patch live on the PTR servers. The update includes a new raid dungeon, a multi-faceted new quest hub, Pet Battle improvements, new world bosses, class balance changes, new pets and mounts and the usual bug fixes.

What’s interesting about this new update is the datamined battleground map “Defense of the Alehouse” which hints at being a DOTA style battleground. Adriacraft put together a video of the map, which based on its layout, looks to be set for some DOTA action. Not to mention the play on words in the map’s name of course.

Note that video was put together in 3D Studio so the map will not be 100% complete, but it’s a good indication of what’s included and what could be coming to the game.

With the recent removal of Team Deathmatch from Diablo 3’s PvP plans, perhaps Blizzard are now experimenting with different PvP gameplay modes in WoW. Blizzard had stated that Diablo 3’s Team Deathmatch wasn’t fulfilling enough so maybe we’ll see something similar appear for Diablo 3’s PvP in the future.
