Gamescom 2020 has certainly not wasted any time when it comes to sharing more details about upcoming games. We can expect more to come over the next few days, but for the wannabe sleuths in all of us, this next piece of news will be very enticing. Murder mystery game 12 Minutes has finally reemerged from the shadows with a new trailer. In it, we are introduced to a truly wonderful cast behind the game. Daisy Ridley, James McAvoy, and Willem Dafoe all star in 12 Minutes.
Annapurna Interactive’s thriller about an ever-repeating 12-minute loop has been in the works for a while now. After a strong showing at E3 2019, news on the game fell quiet. Thankfully, that wait is over, and the new trailer dives deeper into the game’s premise. We see a variety of time loops, narrated by Dafoe. The voice work does wonders to set the mood and there’s a certain eerie intensity about the trailer. 12 Minutes is about a man trying to save his wife from being murdered, and it appears that it will require much more than foresight to make that happen. The unique perspective of being overhead makes things feel claustrophobic, and this is definitely deliberate in 12 Minutes.
While we are still not clear on who’s who in the game, a safe bet is that Dafoe, Ridley, and McAvoy play the three individuals shown in the trailer. Annapurna Interactive seems intent on keeping the entire mystery of the 12 Minutes constant loop, the character scenarios and roles as closely guarded secrets. However, that has only served to increase the hype that many have for this game, including us.
Originally slated for a 2020 release, 12 Minutes is still currently without a proper release date. Whenever the game does arrive, the PC platform will see at least a Steam release.
