The Halo Infinite campaign co-op test hasn’t begun yet but it may still this week. In fact, it could begin later today — if the stars are so aligned. Adding some credence to this belief is the fact that developer 343 Industries is hosting a livestream, which will share some details on the Halo Infinite co-op test. It begins later today at 4 PM ET and features members of the campaign team who will talk about the flight.
There is, of course, no promise that the test will kick off today. In late June, the developer planned to start the test during the week of July 11. Naturally, that didn’t mean it would begin right on that day. It could have, but 343 left open the possibility that it would start later in the week as well. That is, if everything went accordingly. On July 11, Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard reported that things so far have not gone accordingly.
“Flighting is fluid as the process entails discovering issues in initial rings and resolving them before expanding to a larger audience,” Jarrard wrote on Twitter. “A few issues were discovered in our current flight ring and the team is working to address.”
Slight delays aside, 343 still plans on sharing details on the Halo Infinite co-op mode today. You can check it out via either the studio’s Twitch or YouTube channels. I’ll also link it up below, so you can watch along when the time arrives.
No longer alone against the Banished
The livestream will cover a handful of topics. Campaign developers will be on station to chat about the test while showcasing how it looks and plays. The team will also go over Mission Replay, an option that let’s you replay missions you’ve already completed prior in the campaign.
Following the show, I’ll briefly share some details on the Halo Infinite online co-op campaign mode.
- In a party, the mission chosen will be the earliest one a player has completed in order to prevent bringing said player too far into the story
- Anyone can skip a cutscene
- Friendly fire is still a thing
- For collectibles, activating one unlocks it for all players. If all players will have it, the item will be shown as collected
- Dying allows you to cycle through a death cam to see the other players. You respawn after a few seconds with the equipment you had when you died
- During a story moment, such as a boss battle, the game will warp players together to participate
- Program Manager Rob Brown is hilarious, but don’t leave him near a fusion coil — he is an agent of chaos
- Using the Grappleshot on an ally sends you flying past them with a boost to momentum
- Fusion coils: you can destroy one being held by a teammate, and you can grapple one in mid-air — the 343 team cannot
