5 Things to do first in Palworld

First things first

Setting out into the vast map of Palworld for the first time can be a little daunting. There is much to see and do, so knowing where to begin isn’t immediately clear. However, with this handy guide, you can get a running start with the best things to do first in Palworld.

Make your base

Head down into the world and find yourself somewhere close by the spawn point to put down your base. Placing a Palbox will establish your base area, and from there, you can begin building. To build your Paldeck, you will need one Paldium Fragment, eight Wood, and three Stone. You can find all of these items lying around the map very easily.

Using your fists, punch the resources you need to start building a small house and a few beds for your pals. You are never committed to one base, so don’t worry too much about the location, it will simply serve as a place to rest, hide, and store your resources. I chose a rather picturesque spot by a lake that actually came to serve quite well. The limited access from both sides meant that attacks later on in the game were funneled and thus, easier to manage.

By establishing a base first in Palworld, you will have a space to retreat to and a base of operations that’ll really get the ball rolling.

Catch yourself some Pals

You have a base, and you have a dream, now it’s time to get some employees. At the start, don’t worry too much about what you get your hands on. There will be plenty of low-level and easy-to-catch Pals hanging around the map for you to capture. Simply build yourself a workbench with two wood and then some Pal Spheres with one Paldium Fragment, three Wood, and three Stone.

You can catch these little guys by beating them up either with a constructed weapon or simply with your fists. Once you have whittled their health down low enough, you can throw a Pal Sphere at them to capture them. As long as you have Pal Spheres, you can catch as many as you like.

There is a definite benefit to capturing multiples of the same Pal in Palworld. The more of one type of Pal you have, the higher the XP bonus. This boost continues up to the tenth copy you catch. Grabbing a lot of low-level Pals is a great thing to do first in Palworld.

Spread your wings

It is a good idea to get yourself as spread out on the map as possible first in Palworld. As you travel, you will unlock many fast travel locations around the map. You can use these to teleport back to your base quickly.

As you adventure around the island, you will find plenty of new locations with Alpha Pals, rare resources, upgrade resources, and bosses. These can all be returned to quickly once you are ready to harvest them. With every new fast travel point you find, you will also receive upgrade points for your Technology tree and your Pals.

By unlocking a lot of the Palworld map first, you will immediately have access to many new and interesting Pals. These will be very useful when you start to develop your base and need different skills from your team. The starting area Pals can only do so much.

Kill ’em all

One of the best ways to start leveling up your party of Pals is to go to war. Head out into the wild to collect resources, but more importantly, attack other Pals. It may seem mean, but the more you use your Pals, the quicker they will level up.

Leveling up your Pals is important for several reasons. The more powerful they are, the more skills they unlock. Also, as you uncover more of the map, you will notice various high-level Pals and bosses. You will need a good team by your side to take these down.

As your Pals level up, so do you. Killing, attacking, and capturing Pals first in Palworld will ensure that you keep working through those goals and unlocking the skills you need to level up your base. In time you won’t need to gather resources, work on upgrades, or farm. Your high-level Pals will do it all for you.

Research your Palworld technologies

Ignoring your Palworld Technology tree would be a big mistake. It is possible to earn a lot of Tech points early on in the game simply by leveling up, completing the challenges at your Paldeck, and finding new fast travel areas.

Many things in Palworld can only be unlocked by the Technology tree. It is important to know which direction you want to go with your research and focus your points towards this. Getting your technology points in Palworld is one of the first things you should focus on. Once you have the required research, you can begin to build many things that start to automate the whole process, leaving you free to explore and fight.
