Gamestop Opens online presence in the UK

The US game retailer Gamestop last night opened its online presence in the UK.
Already popular in the US, the online retailer opened its website here in the UK last night bringing more competition to UK shores. The opening of a UK based service applies more pressure on retailers such as GAME.
Shares in GAME fell by 8% today following the opening of GameStop over fears of increased competition.
“GameStop’s entry into the UK online market will provide consumers with more choices and exclusive content that they can’t find anywhere else,” said Mike Mauler, executive vice president of GameStop International. “One of our European exclusives is for the anticipated release of Assassin’s Creed Revelations Animus Edition, which will be available to UK gamers only through www.gamestop.co.uk.”
With Gamestop’s arrival it can only be good news for consumers as the online retailers battle it out on pre-order deals. Gamestop has a small presence in the high street in the UK but these are being shuttered as the company focuses on the UK’s online market.
