Dark Energy Digital didn’t get off to the best of starts with their water themed action title Hydrophobia but they did listen to the community and came back with Hydrophobia Pure. Now there’s more to come.
When we the original Hydrophobia we were disappointed with the end product, Dark Energy Digital following comments from reviewers admitting there were problems that needed to be addressed and so we took another look at the game in a of Hydrophobia Pure and the game did come out better following the changes.
Not content with the changes added in Pure, Dark energy Digital has today announced that Hydrophobia Prophecy will shortly be coming to Steam and PSN. So what’s the difference? According to Dark Energy’s Pete Jones there’s quite a few additions and changes including a reworking of the backstory, a dramatic new ending, recast voice acting, it’s now 40% longer and there’s now hydro-kinectic water powers. Pete Jones added:
“We could’ve just ported Hydrophobia Pure over to Steam and PSN after the positive response it received, but we decided to go much further. The community really blew us away with the incredible response to Hydrophobia Pure and the outstanding level of feedback on the listening post, so we wanted to return the favour and ensure we created a bigger and better experience in every possible respect with Hydrophobia Prophecy for Steam and PSN”
Dark Energy has also realised the importance of community feedback and are launching a new in-game dev feedback system called Darknet which will launch with Prophecy. This will enable gamers to give feedback on specific options at any point during the game.
Prophecy will launch on 9 May on Steam and can be pre-purchased for $10.19 / £7.64 (including 15% pre-purchase discount). The PSN version to follow the Steam release at some point and we’ll let you know when the date for that is finalised.
