New ‘Razer Blade’ gaming laptop revealed

Shiny keys and an extra LCD display… enter, the Razer Blade.
Let’s face it, it was only a matter of time before Razer named one of their products the ‘Razer Blade’. However, despite the predictable name, the new laptop from the peripheral manufacturer (most famous for its pro-gaming mice) looks very impressive even if it is a little under powered. Razer are calling this the ‘first true gaming laptop’, a statement which is sure to get their competitor’s backs up.

This new machine really does look very tasty with its lit keyboard and touch LCD display next to the keyboard which can be used to display extra game info.
At the heart of the laptop is an Intel Core i7-2640M processor, Dual core – 64Bit, with a  CPU: 2.8 GHz/ 3.5 GHz (Base/ Turbo). It also packs 8Gb of DDR3 RAM and a 17.3 inch display (see full spec sheet). All this weighs in at a minimal 6.9 pounds.
Alienware has been doing a pretty good job at enticing PC gamers with their products over the years so it’s going to be interesting to see how Razer fare in the face of such well established competition. It looks like they are getting off to a pretty good start, even if the Razer Blade is lacking in power. The price? $2800 USD.
