As is becoming a bit of a tradition with Assassin’s Creed, Revelations will have three different special editions in addition to the standard release.
First and fanciest is the Animus Edition, which will come with an in-depth encyclopedia detailing all that’s great and good about the Assassin’s Creed universe (until Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out and makes it out of date), soundtrack and an animated short film called Assassin’s Creed Embers. Game-wise, you’ll have access to a special single-player mission centered around Vlad the Impaler’s prison (sounds delightful), capacity upgrades for a bunch of weapons, the armour of Brutus from Brotherhood and two multiplayer characters (the Crusader and the Ottoman Jester).
That all looks a bit like this:
Slightly less fancy but still quite special is the Collector Edition, which has a fifty (count ’em) page artbook, soundtrack and Embers animation. This also has the two multiplayer characters from the Animus Edition and the Vlad’s prison jaunt.
That one looks somewhat close to this:
Thirdly, there’s a Special Edition (but not so special that it has as much as the other two boxes). In here you get the soundtrack, and some slightly different in-game stuff; Turkish armour and an Ottoman Doctor multiplayer character (plus the Crusader too).
That set looks like this:
All editions will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. You can expect the PC version to be about $10/10 euros cheaper than the console ones.
