David Gaider says Dragon Age romances are for everyone

Responding to a rather alarming post at the BioWare forums that requested, amongst other things, a “No Homosexuality” toggle for Dragon Age 2, David Gaider has defended the in-game romances.
If you can read a thread titled “Bioware Neglected Their Main Demographic: The Straight Male Gamer” without bursting out laughing or rolling your eyes until they spin out of your face, the original post can be found here. It’s immediately followed by Gaider’s reply, which remains quite polite throughout and notes that he would “question anyone deciding they speak for “the straight male gamer”.”
“Romances are never one-size-fits-all, and even for those who don’t mind the sexuality issue there’s no guarantee they’ll find a character they even want to romance,” Gaider concludes. “That’s why romances are optional content. It’s such a personal issue that we’ll never be able to please everyone. The very best we can do is give everyone a little bit of choice, and that’s what we tried here.”
Quite how anybody can take the romances in either Dragon Age title with any degree of seriousness is beyond me, but I do wish they’d left in the option to romance that wisecracking manticore.
