2015 was a big year for the PC Invasion team. It was back in May we decided it was time to “re-brand” the site from IncGamers.com and give it a name that better reflected what we do. This was not an easy decision and one we mulled over for many months.
Eventually we bit the bullet but it proved a lot of work to make the switch; there was a load of content to move into a whole new content system. We are still finding the odd thing that needs fixing but we are finally getting there all these months later.
When we made the switch we expected to see a drop in readership because of the way Google works and the past few months have been a battle thanks to Google’s crazy systems and constantly changing requirements. However, there are only so many hoops that you can jump through to appease the search giant without completely ruining your editorial content.
We hope that PC Invasion has kept true to our vision of providing honest opinions and that we are a useful guide for the PC gaming public.
2016 will be an interesting year for the team. We now have a much better idea of what you want to see from a PC gaming site thanks to your feedback and comments. We’re still not perfect but we can improve with your input, helping us spread the word about PC Invasion, and generally getting involved with the site content in comments and on social media.
All of us have been writing about PC games for a very long time and we’ve seen massive changes in the way the Intertubes work in the past decade, especially when it comes to social media like Twitter, Facebook and the many other social tools now used by gamers. These new channels of information have been a blessing in some ways but a curse in others. Information gets passed on at lightning speed and that ‘s been a real challenge because there’s often a lot to cover in a short space of time every day.
We have a few ideas that we’re eager to try out in 2016 and we encourage you all to continue to give us feedback. We are truly grateful to everyone who drops by the site daily to get their fix. Without the dedicated support of our regular readers we wouldn’t be here.
On behalf of Peter, Tim and Elly, I want to wish you all a very happy new year and we’ll see you in 2016.
