A Plague Tale: Requiem walkthrough guide – Under a New Sun (Chapter 1)
The first chapter in A Plague: Tale Requiem, Under a New Sun, also counts as the game’s tutorial.
First, you’ll see Amicia, Hugo, and Lucas exploring the countryside. Upon reaching the ruins, the trio will play hide-and-seek. Sneak around and surprise Lucas from behind to complete the task. If you fail, Lucas will give you another chance.
Shortly thereafter, Amicia and Hugo will come across a river. This is where you’ll learn how to aim and hit targets with your slingshot.
Follow the river and go through the side passage of the fortified town. Amicia immediately realizes that something is amiss, as the place is littered with dead and decaying bodies. A villager will accost you, and you’ll have to run away.
In the next sections, you’ll need to use the tall grass to hide from pursuers. This is also where you’ll learn how to distract hostiles by throwing stones at metal wares or over their heads.
The two are almost captured by villagers, until Hugo unleashes the rat swarm. Hugo will fall into a dream state. He’ll awaken in a brightly lit field where a phoenix is guiding him.
Follow the magical bird all the way to the pond until a cutscene plays.
Next, you’ll see Amicia, Hugo, Beatrice, and Lucas riding a cart heading to the city. They’re seeking a way to lift Hugo’s Macula curse. Unfortunately, more unruly villagers appear and Amicia gets separated from the group.
Once again, you’ll have to use stealth to evade the pursuers. Toward the end, the fields will start to burn and you’ll have to escape the inferno. Since you’re surrounded by enemies, you’ll need to strike them down with your slingshot. If ever Amicia is almost hit, the screen will turn grey, signifying that she’s in danger. One more melee/ranged attempt from a mob will instantly kill her.
If you manage to get past all of them, Amicia will see her mother, who’s been taken hostage by a bandit. Aim with your slingshot and hit that baddie in the head for a quick kill. After finding the rest of the group, you’ll then continue onward to the next chapter, Newcomers.
