Activision Confirms Only 2 Map Packs For MW2

Activision Blizzard has confirmed that only two map packs are planned for Modern Warfare 2.The announcement came from the Activision earnings call after news that Modern Warfare 2 has broken all previous Activision pre-order records.”We plan to launch two separate map packs for this title. Map packs help extend the shelf life of the franchise,” confirmed Michael J. Griffith, president and CEO of publishing unit.He added that the popularity of the previous map packs released for Modern Warfare and World at War have been significant. “Life to date, we’ve had strong success with map packs on this franchise, selling more than 8 million units for both the Xbox 360 and PS3.”We knew two map packs were coming to Modern Warfare 2 as timed exclusives for the Xbox 360, as we noted in the Modern Warfare section of our Microsoft E3 roundup, but we didn’t know these were to be the only map packs.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 releases 10 November.
