Activision pays Infinity Ward group $42 million over MW2

Everyone’s favourite hate figure, Activision, has paid $42 million to the Infinity Ward Employee Group.
The group had sued Activision in 2010 on the grounds that it was owed profits from the income generated by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Confusingly, however, sources say that the payment is not a settlement on the case.
Instead, Activision has decided that the Employee Group had no part in the breach-of-contract suit that the publisher has taken out against former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vincent Zampella. Therefore, Activision has agreed to the pay the group.
Infinity Ward Employee Group had initially sued the publisher for between $75 million and $125 million, plus damages. The groups lead lawyer, Bruce Isaacs, has stated that: “although it is a meaningful payment, it is only a small portion of what we are seeking in litigation.”
Isaac went on to say that the $42 million payout was an attempt to “look good” before the start of the jury trial.
