Alibaba Setting Up Mobile Gaming Platform In China

Alibaba Holdings, a giant among e-commerce companies, is to set up a mobile gaming platform in China, where it is based. Alibaba is poised to compete in this space with TenCent, who also has a huge investment in China’s PC gaming.

While Alibaba has a financial relationship with Yahoo, TenCent is nothing to sneeze at themselves. The company distributes major Western titles like NBA and Call of Duty in China, and is in fact one of Activision’s biggest investors.

Would Alibaba or Tencent be interested in bringing their platforms to the West? It’s a possibility that makes this news worth following.
