Amazon puts digital copies of SimCity back on sale

After pulling the digital version of the game from sale yesterday, Amazon has now made SimCity available again. The game still carries the same warning as before: “Many customers are having issues connecting to the “SimCity” servers. EA is actively working to resolve these issues, but at this time we do not know when the issue will be fixed. Please visit https://help.ea.com/en/simcity/simcity for more information,” but can be purchased once again.

Apparently, certain pre-orders were affected during this process, because an official statement from Amazon says “To make up for any inconvenience, we’ve applied a $5 promotional certificate to your Amazon.com account which you can use the next time you order an item sold by Amazon.com.”

SimCity still carries a 1/5 star rating on the site, after more than 1,400 (largely negative) reviews.

A petition requesting that EA refrain from using “always online” DRM in the future is now at 40,000 signatures and climbing.
