Eventually, publishers aren’t going to bother with games writers, they’ll just stream and preview the games themselves. Here’s a case in point: a Bethesda stream of upcoming Bethesda-published game The Evil Within, played by Bethesda’s Pete Hines.
I feel like maybe I’m contributing to my own eventual lack of work by sharing this, but oh well. The Evil Within, everybody! I haven’t played it, so I don’t know whether it’s going to be any good or not, or even very much about it. I do know that it’s a survival horror title with the involvement of Shinji Mikami. As one of the main figures behindĀ Resident Evil, he probably knows what he’s doing with the genre.
Hines is playing Chapter 9 of the game on normal difficulty, which nonetheless looks quite tricky. A lack of ammo and unfortunate timing contribute to at least a couple of his deaths. You’ll also see him shove some probes into an exposed brain and burn multiple bodies while trying to evade an angry ghost type guy named Ruvick. You know, the usual kind of thing.
The Evil Within has had its release date moved around so often that you never know where it’ll turn up next. It’s currently scheduled to release on 14/17 October (depending on whether you’re in the US or Europe.
