Overall, I’d say Fuse falls in the middle of the Apex Legends ranking chart. He’s not the best, but not the worst. Some players will not mesh well with his playstyle, while others will. I haven’t been on the receiving end of an aggressive Fuse player more than a handful of times so far, yet I’ve dished out a good deal of pain with him. This leads me to think that many see his abilities as not worth the trouble, or they need to do some more experimentation.

Fuse is not technically bad, but he does tend to play a niche role like Octane. Fuse works particularly well when you can get the jump on enemies, especially when you can start fights with a perfectly placed Motherlode. I had one match where I managed to trap an entire team of players with gold shields in the ring of fire. My own team was on their game too, because we wiped them in a matter of seconds. We were able to focus fire on them and they panicked and ran through the flames only to die from the damage over time effect. However, that only worked well that one time. I could also see better players potentially getting out of that situation by immediately using abilities.

The best thing I can recommend is to use Fuse in midrange situations when possible. When The Motherlode and his grenade capabilities are combined with concentrated fire, you can quickly deal with enemies that are distracted with your teammates or other squads. You’re then free to move in and use the Knuckle Cluster (or more grenades) on weak enemies who are trying to heal behind cover.

When it comes to Fuse’s character model, he has an average running speed, height, and hitbox. He doesn’t take more or less damage.

Whenever another squad shows up, also keep in mind that you can use your Ultimate to stop or slow their push. Use the Thermite strategy I already mentioned.

My last piece of advice is to only run Fuse with certain squadmates. You really want some allies that can hold their own and won’t go down while Fuse focuses on offense to create opportunities. Gibraltar, Wraith, and Bloodhound come to mind as suggestions to go with Fuse.
