ArenaNet removes Guild Wars 2 Paid Tournaments

Guild Wars 2

In an effort to encourage highly competitive gameplay, a paid tournament system was added to Guild Wars 2 but now it is no longer required says ArenaNet.

The paid tournament system is to be replaced with 1-round Free Tournaments and 3-round Free Tournaments, each with a separate rating to work with the added rating and matchmaking system. Players with unused Tournament Tickets can exchange them for Gold, Silver or Copper.

Due to the system changing, Tournament rewards  for 1-round Free Tournaments are also changing. New Match Win Chest will be awarded to the winning team and the losing team will receive nothing.

Finally, Qaulifying Points are being removed as tournament rewards but top QP earners will receive a “valuable in-game prize” which has not been revealed yet.

Thanks Guild Wars: IncGamers.
