Arma 3 campaign launches, asks you to survive

ARMA 3

Arma 3‘s campaign has been a long time coming, but the first of the three campaign episodes – titled Survive – has just launched. Somewhat inevitably, there’s a trailer.

The Arma 3 campaign puts you in the muddy combat boots of NATO peacekeeper Ben Kerry. Five years after the civil war between Altis and Stratis ends, NATO begin to pull their troops out… and this winds up creating the conditions for a rather large conflict. This episode sees Kerry’s unit, Task Force Aegis, and a group of UKSF operators caught up in a battle for survival. Which is probably why it’s called Survive.

If you’re not all that interested in the single player campaign itself, then you might still perk your ears up at the fact that this includes a whole load of new stuff for the editor, including weapons, animations, 3D objects, and scripted modules. More free stuff – including new vehicles – is apparently expected to come with episode two (Adapt) and episode three (Win), whenever they turn up.

Arma 3 should auto-update on Steam now, giving you access to the episode. Judging by my own Steam queue, it’s about 1.4GB in size.
