Assassin’s Creed 3 coming 30 October

Ubisoft certainly aren’t hanging around when it comes to releasing Assassin’s Creed titles. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Assassin’s Creed Revelations (the two stand-alone titles that wrapped up the tale of Ezio Auditore) were released in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Now, according to a financial call hosted by company head Yves Guillemot, Assassin’s Creed 3 will be coming on 30 October.
In a slightly bizarre turn of events, this means we know the release date for the game before we know almost anything else about it. Other than the fact that it’ll feature a new protagonist (in the sense of Desmond linking up with someone new) and therefore, presumably, a new period in history, there’s not much to go on.
Rumours abound that it could be set in either China or during the American Revolutionary War (although quite where you’d find a major city on the scale of Venice or Jerusalem during that period is another matter), but these are mere speculation. Personally, I was quite keen on the rumour that had it set in revolutionary France (1789-1799).
According to Guillemot, the game has been in development for three years. No doubt we’ll be hearing much more about this in the coming months. Platforms haven’t been announced either, but let’s take a tentative guess at Xbox 360, PS3 and PC for now.
