Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Trailer and Screenshots Leaked

With a day still to go until the official reveal, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag leaks still keep coming in strong. First off is the leaked trailer, which instantly confirms that the game will be taking place in around the Caribbean and that the infamous pirate Black Beard will be involved in the plot in some way. The surprising thing however, is that it appears that Black Beard may not be your enemy, or that it at least isn’t that clear cut.

Check out the trailer for yourself below!

Next up is a bunch of leaked screenshots and artwork thanks to the official Assassin’s Creed Chilean Facebook Community. One of the most obvious things from these screenshots is that the combat system for now at least, appears to be rather similar to the one found in Assassin’s Creed III, however without seeing it in actual motion (and not pre-rendered CG scenes) it’s hard to say if there will be a significant upgrade.

Outside of the combat system the artwork also seems to suggest that the ability to run in the trees, again from Assassin’s Creed III, will be making a return, although the general setting of the game could mean that it would return in a smaller way and perhaps be integrated more seamlessly with the game world rather than the majority of the feature being crammed into one map section.

The final thing that really stands out to me from the screenshots is the battle on the pirate ship and the whale in the sea. Obviously a few of these types of battles are to be expected in a pirate themed game, however the whale could be signs of something greater. The Naval battles from the Assassin’s Creed III were on of the greatest parts of the game. With the focus set around pirates, the naval battles should likely become a central feature too. To me this  seems like a great opportunity to add some hazardous wildlife to the ocean as to really top off the already impressive simulated winds and waves. Of course, the option to assault and board ships at free will would be appreciated too.

Here’s the screens and artwork.
