Identity is an intriguing sounding MMO because it moves away from the fantasy worlds we’re so used to seeing and puts players in a realistic world setting. Asylum’s goal is to strip back traditional MMO mechanics and focus more on the player’s character and give them freedom to do what they want in the game world.

Realism was one of their key goals in the Kickstarter pitch, and they even want to do away with text communication and have character mimic your mouth actions when talking into a mic. It sounds quite ambitious but the MMO genre needs something fresh and perhaps Identity will deliver a new MMO experience.

In the past twelve months we’ve not heard much about the game, but tomorrow the development team will be answering questions in a Reddit AMA session which starts at 8AM EST

Below is the video that was released last year explaining the main goals of Identity. It’s certainly intriguing.
