Marvel’s Avengers: War for Wakanda trailer drops at Square’s E3 show

Wakanda Forever!
Avengers War for Wakanda

Square Enix first revealed that Black Panther would be a playable character in Marvel’s Avengers last year. It was however right after the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman. The man who brought the character to life on the big screen for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But now, during Square Enix’s E3 2021 press conference, we got a cinematic trailer for Marvel’s Avengers – Black Panther: War for Wakanda.

Before the trailer though, the publisher went over some other new things coming to the game. Marvel’s Avengers has been dying (quite literally based on the player numbers) for some more endgame content. In addition to the War for Wakanda expansion, there are two other new story quests coming to the game. The first has the Scientist Supreme, Monica Rappaccini, as the new head of AIM developing the Cosmic Cube. As she begins to bend reality to her will and tear it apart, it’s up to the Avengers to stop her.

The second set of story missions is called Wasteland Patrol and continues the adventures of Clint Barton in the future. This future is based on the Future Imperfect storyline from the comics where most of the world’s superheroes are dead. One of the few that remains is Maestro, an old and evil version of the Hulk. Wasteland Patrol will also feature randomized and replayable boss battles from other parts of the game. There is also a new mode called Patrol Mode which lets you just explore areas without having to worry about mission objectives.

Is this your king? Yes. Yes it is.

In the War for Wakanda trailer we see Black Panther teaming up with the Avengers. It looks like Ulysses Klaue is up to no good in Wakanda again — probably trying to steal more vibranium, but there could be more to his plans. At the end of the trailer we get a cool nod to Klaue’s classic costume from the ’60s as he turns into a giant energy monster. The expansion will be free to those who already own the base game. The War for Wakanda expansion releases this coming August.
