According to the MCV, the new game has been in development since 2016 but won’t be announced until 2018. There’s not much else to go on at the moment but Bandai Namco says that it will feature “a fair dose of investigation” and will take place in a fictional US city. Regarding the game’s choice of location, Bandai Namco’s Hervé Hoerdt, VP of marketing and digital had this to say:

“It will be located in a fictional place in the US because we think that today, to establish a new brand with a western audience, it helps to win with the US market, so part of the choice [in setting] is having this global worldwide audience in mind.”

The game is being developed by a separate team at Dontnod so development on Life is Strange 2 will not be impacted. The news also comes with a single screenshot which doesn’t give anything away.
