Battlefield 1, Battlefield 4, Hardline all getting a new UI

It sounds like the browser-based Battlelog user interface is going to be shuffled off-stage when Battlefield 1 is released in October. A post from DICE confirms that the studio is working on a new UI.

In addition, the UI will be somewhat retroactive; applying to both Battlefield 4 and Hardline. There aren’t any images of this new UI, sadly, but DICE has mentioned a few things that should indicate what they have in mind. Specifically, they say “Now, you’re able to create a Squad before you actually enter into a game.”

There’s also an indication that this UI will unite the three games, enabling players who own all three (or two) to switch between them at will. “Once it’s rolled out for all three games, you’ll be able to easily swap between the games as long as you own them. Want to jump from St. Quentin Scar in Battlefield 1 to the skyscrapers of Shanghai in Battlefield 4? It’ll be easier than ever,” the post states.

You can expect a “recommendation engine to suggest maps, modes, and more” too. The post never outright states that this will now be an in-game system (as opposed to Battlelog), but that sounds like the intent.

The UI is apparently “rolling out in beta form” to a small number of Battlefield 4 players right now, and there will be “more information” and testing opportunities between now and October.
