Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock announced, will depict First Cylon War

Slitherine and Black Lab Games (Star Hammer) are teaming up again for Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock, a 3D tactical space combat title. Set in the well-known Battlestar Galactica universe, Deadlock will depict the battles of the First Cylon War.

The real-time-with pause battles will have you controlling familiar fleets of Vipers, Raptors, and other ships designed specifically for this title, from the bridge of a mobile shipyard called Daidalos. Your overall objective will be to free the Twelve Colonies from the Cylon threat; but you’ll also be drawn into conspiracy and intrigue.

Black Lab are promising a narrative aspect to the game, featuring an “extensive cast” of characters (familiar and new). For the most part though, it sounds like you’ll be busy fending off Cylon Raiders, Basestar assaults, and hacking attacks from Wardriver fighters. Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock will also feature a 1v1 multiplayer mode, which should give you a chance to control the Cylon fleets for yourself.

The game is due out on PC pretty soon, at the “end of summer”. Beta test sign-ups are being taken here. Here’s a short trailer.
