Beamdog, the former Bioware chaps behind the recently-revealed ‘enhanced’ versions of the first two Baldur’s Gate titles, have declared that their long-term ambition is to make a Baldur’s Gate 3.
It’s not exactly on the horizon, however. According to Cameron Tofer from Beamdog, “Baldur’s Gate 3 has been our long term goal. We have a lot of things to put in place before such a project can be launched. So currently there is no such project but that’s the one we want to do.”
Naturally, in light of Double Fine’s and Brian Fargo’s success with the system, Kickstarter may well end up be involved as a funding tool. “We’re totally thinking Kickstarter,” Tofer says.
As far as what’s being added to the original Baldur’s Gate titles, Tofer states that the team has been adding “side stories, stories to tie things together [and] unfinished stories.”
