Become a part of history in an Assassin’s Creed 4 oil painting

Assassins Creed 4 painting

Never ones to shy away from slightly unusual marketing opportunities, Ubisoft are giving you the chance to BE A PART of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Or at least, to BE A PART of an Assassin’s Creed 4 oil painting.

The oil painting – sized at a whopping 2.3 x 4.5 metres, and created by the Beaux-Arts school in Paris – will apparently be viewable online and will be displayed in the Musée de la Marine gallery from 4 November to 3 December. In a rather nice touch, the magic of the internet apparently means we’ll be able to watch the picture being created over time.

To stand a chance of getting your face painted onto one of the 137 characters in this piece of fine art, all you need to do is “send images of yourself expressing as much emotion and passion as you can muster” and then annoy everyone you know into voting for you by posting about it on Twitter and Facebook.

You can see a sketch of the picture above, or check out the forthcoming oil painting’s official site here. It’s down for me right now, presumably because too many people have posted about it on Twitter and Facebook already, but I’m sure that’ll be fixed in no time.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is due out sometime after the console launch date of 29 October because PC users don’t like getting things on time. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag – The Oil Painting is presumably due out sometime before it goes on display on 4 November. Yep: the oil painting will likely be done before the PC version. Priorities!
