The Sakin MG38 is a somewhat underrated gun in Modern Warfare 2. Other LMGs such as the RAAL and the RPK have grown increasingly popular, but players are now starting to catch on that the MG38 is not bad either. Here’s our guide on the best Sakin MG38 class to use in Modern Warfare 2.

  • Muzzle: Sakin Tread-40
  • Underbarrel: Sakin Side Grip
  • Laser: Schlager PEQ Box IV
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip Wrap

The above setup looks to improve the Sakin MG38’s mobility while not sacrificing what makes it good in the first place. The MG38’s low recoil means we can mostly focus on stacking attachments that improve our weapon handling such as the Schlarger PEQ Box IV and Bruen Q900 Grip Wrap. Combo these with the Sakin Tread-40 and Sakin Side Grip to maximize accuracy and you’re left with an exceptionally well-rounded LMG.

  • Secondary: Combat Knife or P890

Although this build tries to make the Sakin MG38 more mobile, it is still an LMG. Moving around with it is difficult due to how slow it is, so it’s best to have a more mobile secondary. The Combat Knife is the fastest option, but could leave you vulnerable if caught off-guard. The best alternative is the P890, which deals impressive damage for a handgun.

  • Tactical: Flash Grenade or Stim
  • Lethal: Drill Charge or Proximity Mine

The best Sakin MG38 class in Modern Warfare 2 varies somewhat based on your playstyle. Those looking to be more aggressive will want to run Flash Grenades and Drill Charges. Drill Charges work especially well with the MG38 as its high bullet penetration lets it shoot through most walls. If you want to play slower, then Stims to quickly heal up and Proximity Mines to punish players pushing you is a strong combination.

  • Basic Perks: Bomb Squad and Battle Hardened/Overkill
  • Bonus Perk: Fast Hands
  • Ultimate Perk: Ghost

Bomb Squad is a fantastic choice for a Basic Perk as it will help you survive enemy equipment and explosives. Your other choice of Basic Perk is flexible, as either Battle Hardened or Overkill both work. Battle Hardened gives you resistance to certain equipment including Flash and Stun Grenades, while Overkill lets you swap out your secondary for a more powerful gun like an SMG.

Fast Hands is basically a must for the best Sakin MG38 class in Modern Warfare 2, as it reduces the MG38’s lengthy reload time by around 30%. As for your Ultimate Perk, Ghost is almost always going to be the best choice; although in some objective modes, Quick Fix offers a good alternative.

  • Field Upgrade: Dead Silence or Trophy System

In most cases, Dead Silence and the Trophy System are the only Field Upgrades worth using. Dead Silence is great for moving around the map quickly without enemies being able to hear you coming. Players who prefer a slower playstyle should instead run a Trophy System which alongside Bomb Squad makes enemy equipment far less effective.
