Who knew it would take that long to repent? Following almost three years since its first announcement, the last Binding of Isaac expansion will finally be in your hands. Binding of Isaac: Repentance is apparently more than an expansion, and more akin to a sequel. While players were not able to enjoy the new content in December, the additional wait is not that long. The Binding of Isaac: Repentance expansion will arrive on March 31 later this year.
A short three month delay is actually quite palatable compared to most of the other delays that have occurred in the video game industry. As part of the announcement, developer Edmund McMillen shared a trailer for the upcoming content.
If you were not aware, the Binding of Isaac: Repentance expansion takes much inspiration from the very popular Antibirth mod. With the help of the mod’s creators, McMillen has put together this substantial addition that will surely impress fans. There are over 130 new items, a hundred more enemies, 25 bosses, and thousands of new rooms to torture you. It sure does not sound like just any old downloadable content.
Refining the formula
Alongside the trailer, McMillen also shared his thoughts about the delay for the content. The team will use the extra time to polish everything up. This includes all the different features that will arrive as part of the Binding of Isaac: Repentance expansion. Everything will require more in-depth testing than before, which will naturally take more time.
With the less-than-awesome launch of The Legend of Bum-bo, it makes sense that McMillen would want to take more time for this. As the game nears its latest addition, there will be more updates shared to the game’s Steam page. Since its first release in 2011, this has been a remarkable run for this particular roguelike. Hopefully, a fitting end awaits in March.
