Blacklight: Tango Down Screens, Details

Ignition Entertainment has revealed details on its forthcoming digitally-distributed multiplayer-focused FPS, Blacklight: Tango Down.
Blacklight, due to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade, the PlayStation Store, and several digital distribution channels on PC, is a multiplayer-based first-person shooter set in the near-future.
Players jump into the shoes of a Blacklight soldier, with Blacklight being the name of the Secretary of Defence’s personal direct action team comprised of Tier One Assets hand-picked from Delta, SEALs, Rangers, and the like.
The game is set in a near-future world where technological progress has exploded, turning “once vibrant and familiar cityscapes into dark and endless virtual billboards and danger zones.” Worse still is that a viral epidemic, made worse by military attempts to weaponise it, is turning people into SIVs – sufferers of the Sentient Insanity Virus – which sound a bit like they belong in the “fast zombie” camp. Aggressive, frightening, impervious to pain, but can’t use tools.
The emphasis is on “science fact” with the tech and weapons in the game based on current military developments and breakthroughs, with the most notable being the Hyper Reality Visor that uses electronic pulse and electromagnetic fields to “see what is otherwise invisible.” Then you’ve got EMP grenades, Digi-grenades, reactive body armour, customisable weapons, and the like.
What really impresses us, though, is how good it looks considering it’s a digital distribution game. Check out the shots below, and note that Blacklight: Tango Down is due out in summer – along with, eventually, a movie and a comic book.
