Blizzard and dates for anything generally don’t mix, we’re so used to seeing the classic Blizzard line of “soon” for everything they plan to add to a game or release.
This week there’s been a deluge of Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls coverage which is fantastic for the Diablo 3 community, and it’s apparent that the expansion could be further on in development that most expected.
In a Korean video interview by Players Cut, Blizzard’s Josh Mosqueira was probed about the a timeline for an expansion beta test. When asked if there was some “hope” that there would be a beta test this year, he responded with a simple “yes”.
Before you get all pumped about playing the expansion beta in 2013, let’s remember that “yes” doesn’t mean it will definitely be released to the public, they may launch the beta in 2013 but only to friends and family. Blizzard always have a lengthy period of internal testing before the public get their grubby hands on any code. We can only hope that “yes” really does mean “yes” for a closed or public test.
More information on the expansion will be released at BlizzCon and we’ll be there to bring you it all as it happens.
