Blizzard intern position hints at new Overwatch project

Blizzard could be working on a new Overwatch project according to an intern job posting on their careers page.

The job posting is specifically looking for interns to work on an “unannounced project” and “help create a wide range of assets to help bring our game to life”. The position is an for an artist who would be working with the concept, environment and character teams.

Blizard requires applicants to have a knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe which indicates they are toying with a concept for a new Overwatch title.

While we have no idea what Blizzard could be working on, it would make sense for Blizzard to be investigating new ideas for the IP. It could be a mobile game, a card game, well it could be anything really. Blizzard often posts job listings highlighting specific franchises and we know they experiment a lot and ditch ideas before they become public knowledge. Since the success of Hearthstone, small teams will have been working on multiple concepts.

It’s safe to say that Blizzard will be looking at every possible avenue to push Overwatch into new areas and capitalise on the huge fanbase. Don’t hold your breath though, this could amount to nothing.
