Popcap Games has announced that Bookworm Adventures 2 will hit the internet on 30 July. The title, priced at $19.99 USD – which should work out to around £12 or £13 GBP – is a sequel to original hit Bookworm Adventures, which can best be described as what happens if you get Scrabble in your Final Fantasy.Players face off with a variety of creatures in JRPG-style turn-based combat, complete with items, equipment, and potions, but to damage them you create words from a pool of letters. The bigger the word, the higher the damage. Bonus damage would be awarded for making sure the word fit into a theme on each level – “copper” would do more damage on a level in which the theme was metal, for instance. The sequel has three new books – “Fractured Fairytales,” “The Monkey King,” and “Astounding Planets,” as well as six mini-games, a Replay mode, an Arena mode, Companions, Rainbow tiles, achievements, new treasures, new enemies, and more, which sounds like quite a lot to us.It’ll be getting a release on Mac as well as PC, so even non-gamers on Apple systems can play when it hits Popcap’s site on 30 July.
