Borderlands 3 hotfix improves matchmaking

Those Deathspheres are a little bit easier to kill now.

Borderlands 3 got a hefty little hotfix today, which goes live on all devices at 6:00 p.m. EST. The hotfix mostly addresses matchmaking, but it also fixes some bugs that have been reported by the community. All the fixes have shown up just in time for the holidays, so be sure to get in there and shoot some psychos and grab some loot. While having a merry time, of course.

Matchmaking improvements

The press notes discuss an upcoming Takedown New Year’s Event. Borderlands 3 players can kickstart the new year with a revised Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite. Previously, players needed a full party for the event, but for the New Year’s Event it is balanced to the number of players in your party. This means you should get into a match quicker and not worry about being outgunned. The event runs from Tuesday, December 31 to Monday, January 16, which should give you plenty of time to finish the event once or twice.

However, before the New Year’s Event starts, there have been some improvements to matchmaking. For the time being, queuing up for the Takedown event won’t transition you to the level until a full party of four is found. Remember, the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite is designed for max-level players.

Hotfixes

The update also addresses some issues the Borderlands 3 community has pointed out. Check out some of the more important hotfixes:

  • Decreased the shields and armor on Maliwan Deathspheres in the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite
  • Fixed a bug where Terror was sometimes not dropping his loot when re-running Agonizer 9000
  • Addressed a reported concern where loot could sometimes fall through the floor surrounding the Agonizer 9000
  • Fixed a bug where Zane’s “Trick of the Light” skill was sometimes reporting lower bonus damage values in its description than what it was awarding
  • Addressed a bug where Moze’s “Desperate Measures” skill sometimes wasn’t awarding the damage bonus to Iron Bear’s Right Gun

You can currently pick Borderlands 3 up at the Epic Games Store for a discounted $38.99.
