Braid Creator Teases New Game

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Hints of Braid creator Jonathan Blow’s next title have appeared courtesy of job postings on his site. The two job postings – one for a 3D lead artist, the other for a 3D environment concept artist – each contain hints on what we can expect from the next title. The team is apparently fully-funded with high pay, and the title is described as “a puzzle-exploration game that is philosophical, and quiet, and is being made for reasons other than crass profit motive,” the latter presumably despite the specific mention of “high pay.””The subtleties of storytelling through environmental cues” is a phrase that appears later, too, as does Blow’s description of what we aren’t going to be seeing: “The majority of the portfolio should consist of things absent from the following list: Girls With Big Tits; Barbarians Wielding Axes, Covered in Blood; Aliens; Space Ships; Gangsters Getting Shot in the Face; Giant Robots; and, of course, Postapocalyptic [sic] Wastelands.”So we’re looking at a 3D puzzle-exploration game that’s quiet and philosophical, and will presumably have a high focus on story, with a well-funded team that aren’t doing it for the money. Sounds good to us, although we’re a little disappointed that the game apparently won’t feature girls with big tits shooting gangsters in the face while blood-covered barbarians standing atop giant robots wield their axes in the general direction of aliens in space ships – in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, naturally. We’d like to see that game too.
